Beloved Actor Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Famed For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.
American actor Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic programs including Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away at the age of 60.
The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles, California on Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to media reports.
"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - only friends he had yet to meet," his family stated in a message.
They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".
An Extensive TV Career
Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he played the lead character's sibling.
He also had a regular part on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.
He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, playing a host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of popular shows, including:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.
His cinematic roles are It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Outside of his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was part of a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.
"He coached, befriended and mentored many learners over the years and it would be difficult to find someone who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, fellow actor actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote online.
The actor is leaves behind his spouse Donna, three children, and his family.
