Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have shot down missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.

The statement noted debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
