Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging season, managing just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Moutet.

It is his initial trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after March of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His defensive play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to question if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
