Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
